GROUPS:

 

Group B:           Basic to Intermediate Photographers

Group A:           Intermediate to Advanced Photographers

Salon:               Advanced Photographers

 

1.         New members will start in Group B. However, at the discretion of the Print or Slide Chairman, a new member may be placed in Group A if his work or previous experience merits it.

            New members are also required to have their work evaluated by the Print or Slide Chairman one week prior to their first competition.

 

2.         Movement from Group B to Group A will be based on two criteria:

1. The member with the highest yearly average (minimum of 18 entries)

2.  The member with the highest total points.

 

3.         Any member who has not met the minimum entry points of 18, but has been award two  Print or Slide of the Month awards by the judge will be moved from B to Group A at the

            discretion of the Print or Slide Chairman.

 

4          Movement from Group A to Salon wall be by invitation and will be based on two criteria, The member with the highest yearly average (minimum of 18 entries) and the member

            with the highest total points for the year will be extended an invitation. A member may accept or decline his first invitation A member who wins in both categories in cue year

            or has previously received an invitation has one (1) option to decline the invitation to become a member of the Salon group.

            5. Average Quality Work

            6. Good Quality Work

            7. Honorable Mention

8 Award

            9 Medal

 

One (1) entry point is received for Print/Slide of the month in each category.

 

In the event that a scheduled judge does not show, three (3) club members are chosen to replace that judge. Scoring boxes are then used and the average

score from all three judges is used as the final score The following conversion table shall be used to determine the final score:

 

14, 15, or 16 (Score 5)

17, 18, or 19 (Score 6)

20, 21, or 22 (Score 7)

23, 24, or 25 (Score 7)

26        or 27 (Score 9)

 

 

 

SPECIAL COMPETITIONS

 

Three separate categories are used in these competitions black and white prints, color punts, and slides. There is no designation as to individual groups

(Group B, Group A or Salon) or how the photograph was made (by the maker or commercially).

 

None of the points generated in these competitions are used in the calculation of the member’s accumulated scores for the current year.


 

III         Black & White Prints - (Monochrome)

 

1.         All photographs must be taken the member.

 

2.         Categories: Group B (Beginner), Group A (Intermediate), Salon (Advanced)

.

3.         All prints must be unframed, mounted and have a backing board. The un-mounted print alone cannot be smaller than 8 X 10(80 sq. inches).

           The mounted print cannot be larger than 16 X 20 inches or no longer than 32 inches the size of our print box.

 

4.         All prints must have the OCC label containing the name of the member, date of competition, the title of the print and the group level of the maker.

            The label must be placed on the back of the print in the upper left hand corner.

 

5.         A print may be entered only twice into competition. Once a print hat won award of 7 or better it cannot be reworked and reentered except as a

            Kodalith or other derivation.

 

6.         All single toned prints will be entered in the B &W category

 

7.         Monochrome prints with one color added maybe entered in the Black & White category.

 

IV         Color Prints

 

1.         All photographs must be taken by the member.

 

2.         Categories: Group B (Beginner), Group A (Intermediate), Salon (Advanced). Color Prints: Prints processed by the photographer

 

3.         Any print tinted or colored with mom than one color shall be entered into the color punt category.

 

4.         All prints must be unframed, mounted and have a backing board. The un-mounted print alone cannot be smaller than 8 X 10 (80 sq. inches).

           The mounted print cannot larger than 16 X 20 inches or no longer than 32 inches the size of our print box.

 

5.         All prints must have OCC labels containing the name of the member, date of competition, the title of the print and the group level of the maker.

SHOULD LAKEWOOD HIGH SCHOOL BE CLOSED FOR ANY REASON. SCHEDULED MEETING WILL BE CANCELED. EMERGENCY CLOSINGS WILL BE BROADCAST

ON THE FOLLOWING RADIO STATIONS: WABD 95.9 FM, WOBM 92.7 FM, AND WJLK 94.5 FM.

RULES OF COMPETITION

 

In order for the club to maintain its high standard in photographic competition it is requested that the members comply with the following rules:

 

a.             All prints for competition must be submitted before 7:30 PM.

b.             Only members who have paid their dues in full will be permitted to enter any competition.

 

 

 

COMPETITION ENTRIES

 

Each member is limited to no more than (3) entries in 3 of the

following categories;

 

a.             PRINTS - BLACK & WHITE

b.             PRINTS - COLOR

c.             PRINTS-  CREATIVE (one entry only)

 

 

 

COMPETITION MAKE -UP RULES

 

a.             Make-up competitions can only be approved by the print/slide chairman

b.             For the make-up competition the member may only submit a total of 6 entrees in each category

 


 

ALL PHOTOGRAPHS (PRINTS) MUST BE LABELED CORRECTLY AND BROUGHT TO THE SELECTION TABLE NO LATER THAN 7:30 p.m.

 

LABELING PRINTS

 

1.   All prints must have a Ocean Camera Club label

2.   Hold the print the way you want it viewed

3.   Place the label on the back of the print in the upper left-banded corner

4.   Fill in the label with your name, title of the print, date of the competition and assigned group.

Digital "Slide" Preparation Specifications

 

General Requirements:

 

    Please send photos as attachments to an email. Don't embed

    them in the body of the email.

 

    A total of four digital images can be submitted: one creative and three normal

 

    3840 pixels horizontal (max)  by 2160 pixels vertical (max)

    8 bit color

    jpeg file:   mypix.jpg

    sRGB color gamut

    aspect ratio = 3840/2160 = width/height = 1.7777 to 1

 

    Vertical   dimension max = 2160 pixels

    Horizontal dimension max = 3840 pixels

    Also, remember pixels/inch or dots/inch apply to printing only not to projection.

         

File naming protocol:

 

P_    first characters in portrait (height longer than the width) picture file name

 

L_    first characters in landscape (width longer than the height) picture file name

 

S_   first characters in a square photo (Width = Height)

 

A_ next in line for your group

    Ax_ =  A group,

    Bx_ =  B group,

    C_  =  Creative,

    Sx_ =  Salon group

 

The x is a sequence number 1,2,3, . . . 

depending on the number of pictures entered by the photographer

         

Here is a big change: Use spaces in the name and caption,

  but use Underscores as separators (field delimiters).

Misty Seas        Caption or Title is next

 

.JPG              Photographic file type

 

File name = P_A1_Kirk-James T_Misty Seas.jpg

          

Don't use periods other than in the ".jpg" because the

   period is the file extension separator.
